Around Lake Baikal will be established 18 nature parks

Around Lake Baikal to the 2015 plan to create 18 parks of regional significance for the development of ecological tourism, said researcher of the Laboratory of Physical Geography and Landscape Mapping Institute of Geography, Siberian Branch of RAS Tatiana Kalikhman. Currently 70% of the shore of the lake occupied by protected natural areas.

"Around the lake itself more reserves, perhaps, not necessary. We need to create protected areas, which are classified as parks and have a regional status, and recreational areas, a local status. They not only preserve nature, but also develop recreational resources, "- said Kalikhman RIA Novosti on Friday.
According to the interlocutor agency, zoning of such protected areas (PAs) will enable local people to maintain a habitual way of life and the gathering. At the same time environmental protection will be increased to 80% of the shore of the lake.

In particular, in the Irkutsk Oblast and Buryat Republic will create the following parks: Bright, Khakusy, Kurkerlinsky, Goloustnaya, Warm Lake, Utulik-Babha and others.

Currently, 70% of Lake Baikal occupy protected areas, including three reserves - Barguzin, the Baikal-Lena, Baikal, two national parks - and the Trans-Baikal Baikal, two federal reserve - and Frolihinsky Kabansky, as well as regional reserves - Baikal, Stepnodvoretsky , Enheluksky, Verkhneangarsk.
